Application System Designer

Full-time internship on-site | Breda, The Netherlands

Design and implement core gameplay systems that are scalable, reusable, and modular
Work closely with designers, engineers, and artists to prototype and iterate on gameplay features and systems
Create clear and structured documentation for designed systems, including flows, rules, and data structures
Show ownership of your systems — including the ability to refine, polish, and iterate on them based on feedback and testing
Help fine-tune systems for balance, pacing, and player clarity

Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 Blueprints
Experience designing and/or implementing game systems (combat, economy, meta-progression, etc.)
Strong understanding of core game design principles (feedback loops, risk/reward, balance, pacing)
Comfortable taking initiative and adapting in a dynamic development environment adhering to pipelines and established systems
Passionate about playing and making games

Experience with data-driven design (spreadsheets, data tables, tuning tools)
Experience creating AI behavior systems or working with state trees
Familiarity with roguelite systems, progression loops, or systems-driven games
Familiarity with Unreal Engine's Gameplay Ability System (GAS)
Familiarity with UI/UX in Unreal Engine 5 (UMG)
Knowledge of C++ and its use within Unreal for systems implementation
